Gusset plate support is a support supported by additional materials to improve its strength and bearing capacity. It is like an L-shaped support with an additional triangular material section between the vertical and horizontal sections.
Gusset plates can be welded to the bracket or included in a single piece: in the latter case, the horizontal and vertical planes of the bracket are bent from the edge of the triangle.
The bracket can be manufactured in various ways, such as casting or CNC machining. However, the best way to make simple supports is sheet metal.
One of the most common sheet metal processes is bending, where a machine called a brake is used to bend the sheet metal to a maximum angle of 120 °. This is probably the most important process when manufacturing sheet metal supports, as almost all supports contain at least one bend.
